Color Guard Instructor Bio

Minimize

Michel Haugh is instructing the color guard.  She is a graduate of NRHEG High School and Jamestown College in North Dakota.  She worked as the color guard instructor at NRHEG for many years up through 2009.   Michel is very excited about working with the St. Peter color guard.

Percussion Instructor

Adrian Barnett - head percussion instructor - is a native of New Richland, MN and is currently pursuing a DMA in Jazz Studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  His main instrument is baritone saxophone, but has performed in a variety of musical settings on a wide variety of instruments.

Adrian has been involved with music education on many levels.  As well as teaching at the collegiate level (as Interim Director of Jazz Studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2008-2009), he has worked as head percussion instructor and assistant director for the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale Geneva High School Marching program for many years, performed as a guest artist/clinician at several area high schools including LeSueur, Dodge Center, and Cleveland, and he continues to teach private lessons.

Adrian received his undergraduate degree and masters degree from Minnesota State, Mankato, and his performance experience includes playing with the National Collegiate Wind Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, as well as with many area wind ensembles, jazz bands, as well as appearing alongside many current jazz greats. 

He's looking foward to working with the St. Peter Saints. 

 

Band Director

Dave Haugh has been the director at St. Peter High School since 2009.  Before that, he taught high school band at NRHEG High School in New Richland, MN for twelve years.  Dave graduated from Mankato East High School, and marched with the Mankato '77 Lancers during high school.  He earned a business degree from the University of St. Thomas while continuing his marching career with the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps in Madison, WI and with the Govenaires Senior Drum & Bugle of St. Peter, MN.  He got involved with instructing the '77 Lancers and the Maple River Eagles, during which time he returned to school at Mankato State University, ultimately completing both his undergraduate and masters degrees in Music Education.  

Dave and his wife, Michel, and daughter Milena currently live in Mankato along with their dogs, Odo & Bernie, and their cat Chili.  In his free time, Dave is an active slowpitch softball player, reader, pool player, and downhill skier.
